What is the difference between Single PE and Double PE Coated Paper?
Single PE Coated: Polyethylene is applied to one side of the paper.
Best for: Hot drinks (coffee, tea). The PE layer faces inward to hold the liquid, while the outer paper surface is ideal for printing.
Double PE Coated: Polyethylene is applied to both sides of the paper.
Best for: Cold drinks (iced coffee, bubble tea, soda). The outer PE layer prevents condensation ("sweating") from soaking through the cup and making it soggy.
Is Double PE Paper Recyclable?
This depends on the recycling facilities in your country.
Standard PE: Most recycling plants cannot separate the plastic (PE) from the paper fibers efficiently. Therefore, standard Double PE cups are often sent to landfill or incineration.
